How Do I Know What Printer I Need for My Business?
Onyx Imaging has many options if you are looking to purchase a new printer. We have equipment advisors available that are happy to help you when deciding which printer is best suited for your business needs. We can assist in making sure that you make a confident and informed purchase on a new printer, whether you are looking for your home or office. We will begin by asking you a few questions so we can help narrow the search.
- Are you looking for an Ink or Laser printer?
- Will you be printing in color, or do you only need to print in black or monochrome?
- Will you be connecting your new printer wirelessly through USB or a wired network connection?
- What operating system are you currently using?
- Do you need the ability to copy, scan, and fax, or do you only need it to print?
- If multiple people will use this printer, how many users will be printing to this device?
- How many trays in total do you need?
- What is the maximum paper size you will be using?
- Letter (8.5 x 11), Legal (8.5 x 14), Wide Format (11 x 17)
- Approximately how many pages do you print in a month?
- An easy way to estimate is by how many reams of paper you use a month.
- Are you looking to replace an old printer?
- If so, what is the make and model of your old machine? Are you looking for something comparable, or are you looking for a printer with additional features?
- Do you have a specific brand that you prefer? (Lexmark, Canon, Brother, HP, etc.)
- Are you looking to purchase a machine, or are you looking for a lease option?
- Do you have a budget in mind?
Once you have provided one of our equipment advisors with the above information, we will work on researching options for you. We want to make sure you get the machine that best fits your needs while also making sure you get the best deal possible! The first thing we will look at on your behalf is what the cost to operate this machine is going to be. In other words, what is the cost of the cartridge(s), and what yield does the supply offer? We can determine the Cost Per Page (CPP) by dividing the cost of the cartridge and the estimated yield. Our goal is to help you save the most money over the life of the printer. This is one of the main contributing factors on which printer we will recommend for you.
The second and equally important factor we look at is reliability. As a full-scale service-center for printers, we have an advantage in knowing which machines are most reliable, and also which printers are prone to service-related issues. In other words, we know which printers frequently come in for service. We want to make sure that the printer we recommend for you is one that you can rely on to help keep your business running smoothly!
The factory warranty is also something to consider in the process of recommending a printer for your business. A one-year factory warranty is pretty standard on most printers across all manufacturers. However, some manufacturers offer printers that carry a three-year factory warranty. If your budget and needs align with one of these printers, we will include that as an option.
Free Delivery & Installation
At Onyx Imaging, we are committed to ensuring that you are happy with your new printer. That is why with every printer purchase, we include local delivery and installation at your home or business!
Before our installation tech leaves, they will clean up, making sure to remove all packaging material. They will also print a test page to ensure your printer is configured correctly. With your consent, we will also place a label with our contact information on the front of the printer should you need further assistance or need to order replacement supplies.
Additional Support
We are here to help you every step of the way by offering additional support after the sale. If you experience any problems, even months after your purchase, we will help you by resolving any warranty claims on your behalf at no additional cost. In most cases, when you purchase from a big box store, they direct you to contact the manufacturer to handle any warranty claims or issues. If you have ever had to deal with product support, you know that you can spend hours on the phone trying to troubleshoot any problems. Let our staff work on your behalf so you can focus on other, more pressing matters.
A More Affordable Alternative
We have several Onyx Certified Refurb options available if you are looking for a more affordable option. We thoroughly inspect all of our recertified printers and replace all critical components. Depending on the device, our refurbished printers carry a warranty ranging from 90 days to one year. When you purchase a recertified printer from Onyx, you will receive all of the same benefits, including delivery & installation.
One more reason you may consider a refurbished printer is to keep a uniform printing fleet. Many of our customers have several of the same printer models that have been in use for years. A prime example is HP’s LaserJet 4250. These are work-horse printers, and still in high demand. However, they have been discontinued long ago by the manufacturer, so you can no longer purchase them new. Keeping your print fleet in uniform allows you to streamline the supplies that you keep in stock and reduces the capital you have tied up in printing supplies such as ink and toner.
We offer a wide range of options from various manufacturers, including Okidata, Xerox, Epson, Samsung, Lexmark, Brother, Canon, and HP. Whatever it is you are looking for, be sure to give Onyx Imaging a call and let us put our expert knowledge to work for you!
